Even though overprotective education has been opposed for most modern educational theories, some parents, even some universities authorities, still keep the students out of decision-making. As a college student, I strongly fight against those so-called protect and ask for being the master of my own school life.

I think the worst consequence is that students may lose their ability to make decision alone if they are not allowed to arrange their college events. College students are almost at the age over 16 and most of them are persons of full age and capacity, whose rights approved by laws. At the end of school time in their life, they have been taught how to make right decision for many years and of course, they have learned how to be responsible for their own behaviors. However, if this chance is deprived, they will feel frustrated after graduation due to the lack of certain ability to arrange their work and life, let alone being the principal of the whole working project. Since the laws have already recognized their ability, there is no reason for the school to object.

Apart from the capacity-building, enrollment rate is another factor that can't be ignored. According to the recent survey conducted by National Education Sector, only 30% of universities whose student unions are authorized to make the daily decision, while the number of applicants who claim that they took the decision-making program into consideration when submitting applications tops 80%. That means the amount of ideal universities cannot meet the need of those strongly-desired applicants. Therefore, letting students to make own decisions on school events is absolutely a good way for those university who want to attract more students.

Some may worry that decision given by students may have one or two downsides. For instance, some students might take it personally by considering their own benefit rather than public interest. However, in light of above-mentioned possibility, I suggest that the school authority to build up a supervisory mechanism, and make a rule that those important events should be publicly displayed and encourage other students to get involved in supervision. Thus, this practice will leave nothing to be worried about.

Therefore, even though many jobs came together to make a school a school, but a school becomes a promised land only when students who study in it try to make themselves the owners.

I prefer buying and eating my meals at restaurants.

Nowadays, eating meals at restaurants is becoming a trend popular among young people. Seldom do they cook at home, and most of them even cannot cook themselves a hearty meal. As one of such young people, I prefer buying and eating my meals at restaurants. My reasons are given below.

First, food offered in restaurants is prepared by professional chefs. Thus, it is tastier than the food cooked at home. No one can be so confident to boldly claim that he or she cooks better dishes than those chefs. This is even truer for me. So, in order to have a taste of the delicious food which I can ever be able to cook, I prefer eating at restaurants. Plus, with the globalization, which has already penetrated catering industry for decades, a large variety of cuisines from different countries and regions are served at local restaurants. When I fulfill my mouth and stomach with different tastes and flavors, the great joy of living is maximized. In the meantime, such cuisines give me an opportunity to have a completely new dining experience, by which I have learned much about exotic culture. For example, when I firstly ate steak, I didn't know how to hold the fork and knife, what the difference between "medium" and "medium well" is, or whether I should better drink wine or champagne. After listening to the detailed explanation by the kind waitress, I came to know the answers to my questions. By the same token, eating sushi at a Japanese restaurant inspired me to know more about Japanese culture. This, then, became an impetus for my longing for travelling around the world.

Another reason is that eating at restaurants save me large amount of time, which I can use for studying and working. Buying ingredients, preparing food and washing dishes afterward with no doubt consumes no less than two hours in total. In two hours, I can finish a lesson for Japanese language and also do some related quizzes. In two hours, I can hold a conference with my client to discuss further cooperation. In two hours, I can also play badminton with my friends in order to keep healthy. On the contrary, I will use two hours to have my not-so-tasty lunch if I cook by myself, and another two to have super. In this case, four hours are wasted every day and those who have someone prepare them for food or those who eat at restaurants have four more hours each day to equip themselves with new knowledge. Let's take a small example to further explain this. Two students from the same class are preparing for an important test. One of them always cooks dinner himself and continues to do so during this period. So, he has at most 3 hours to study every day. Another eats at restaurants and has 7 hours for the preparation. Which student do you think will get better result for the coming test?

Someone may reject by saying that cooking at home is more economical. I must say that they only see things with eyes but not with their hearts. Cooking at home indeed saves some money. But compared with the time it wastes, as I explained above, such money is nothing to speak of. When this time is used to study or work, the payback is more heart-stirring than one can imagine after some time's accumulation. In addition, when people become more competent by making full use of the two more hours every day to expand their skill sets, they undoubtedly will be able to earn more money.

In short, considering the advantages for eating at restaurants, I prefer to have my three meals at restaurants rather than to cook at home. And as far as I am concerned, those who enjoy the merriness of cooking with their own hands will sometimes need to sacrifice such merriness for more important and more rewarding things.

With the sense of community becoming much stronger, how to protect the environment of local communities has never failed to attract the attention of the general public. Therefore, when it comes to which is the most feasible measure to help environment, among planting trees and building parks, encouraging local shops to stop using plastic bags, and improving public transportation, people's notions may vary from one to another. Towards such a long-running tug-of-war, I am inclined to claim that the first option is the best.

Firstly, growing trees and constructing parks can definitely help to ameliorate the environment. For one thing, more trees will contribute to the improvement of the air quality of the whole neighborhood. As is common sense, the prosperous industrial development has produced large amounts of waste gas, with the result that the haze and smoggy weather shroud quite frequently the major cities in our country. The current air condition necessitates the planting of trees, which can purify the contaminated air to a large extent. In other words, trees, the lung of the earth, play a vital role in absorbing some harmful gas and producing more fresh air through photosynthesis. For another, the public parks can be helpful to increase the biodiversity of the local community. Accompanying the rapid urbanization, an increasing number of natural lands have been utilized for constructing factories, shopping mall and skyscrapers, which greatly diminishes the natural habitats of animals, such as birds and squirrels. In this case, parks become the only place which can serve as habitats for those animals. Accordingly, the species of animals living here can become more diverse.

In addition, there are certain limitations for the other two options. Admittedly, reducing the use of plastic bags and making public transportation more accessible may also be conducive to the environmental protection in some degrees. To illustrate, if the plastic bags are prohibited, the so-called white pollution will be relieved. Also, easier access to public transportation means less use of private cars, which leads to the reduction of car exhaust. However, in comparison to planting trees and building parks, the above two measures enjoy less popularity among the residents of the community and thus are unlikely to be implemented. The underlying reason is that growing trees and constructing parks can create a more comfortable living environment while the other two choices can bring about more inconvenience. To be more specific, if shops stop the use of plastic shopping bags, the customers have to take a cloth bag while shopping. Also, taking public transportation will take longer time than driving the private cars, which means that commuters have to get up much earlier than before. It is self-evident that whether a policy can be carried out directly determines its effect, which is especially true of the above situation.

Taking what has been discussed above, we can draw the conclusion that the most effective way of protecting environment in local communities is to plant trees and create parks.
