　　I bet a lot of people will choose the computer if you ask them what the greatest invention of 20th century is. Obviously, the computer has changed our lives significantly from many ways. At the same time, some people hold the idea that the computer makes our life more complex and stressful. Conversely, I still think that because of the advent of the computer, our life is becoming easier and convenient

　　If the computer was not invented, you would have to search a lot of information from books or periodicals about a resort when you wanted to visit a new place which you totally had no idea about. Fortunately, the computer gives us access to get information immediately. By connecting to the internet, you can find almost every thing about a resort without going to library or travel agency to ask for information.Also, just imagine that you will go to a gorgeous south pacific island, named Fuji, and you want to record your sweet memory about this trip. Thus, what do you need to bring with you? A camera and a video are needed to record trip, and a cell phone is also necessary when you want to communicate with your friends. They are very heavy to carry, and I bet you do not want to bring a lot of things with you. If you use a laptop, you can take photos with your laptop and send them immediately by connecting to the wireless internet connection of your hotel. Similarly, you can use Skype to phone your friends. Although you might think the pictures taken by the computer are not clear enough, the computer producers nowadays are producing the laptop with higher quality of pictures. Also, the size and weight of the laptop is smaller and lighter. I am sure that you will not wait for a long time to get an ideal laptop that is going to benefit your life.

　　To sum up, I totally agree with the idea that computer make us live more conveniently and easily. The fact that the computer is used by more and more people can not be ignored, and if we were not allowed to use computer someday, our life would be a big mess because sometimes we need the computer to share our information within a few minutes and to get knowledge when we need it urgently. We cannot live without the computer.

　　Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

　　A school often gives its students the deepest impression in their life because not only did it broaden students’ sights by education, but teachers’ influences on students as well. Nowadays some individuals hold the idea that teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Frankly speaking, I consider this kind of behavior not a well informed decision.

　　Salaries that people earn are decided by people’s performances. Teachers are no exception. How much money teachers can get should equal how much efforts teachers make. In this case, by evaluating the amount of knowledge that students get to decide salaries of teachers sounds reasonable; however, there are some problems if this plan is carried out.

　　First and foremost, it is not fair for teachers if they are only judged by students. Everyone’s energy is not infinite, which means after a period of time of studying, students are likely to be lethargic and tiredness so that they do not want to study anymore even if they know the importance of studying. In this case, although teachers have tried their best to teach students knowledge as much as they can, some students cannot learn more. Thus, students might get lower marks. Marks is an crucial part deciding how much students learn and how much money teachers can get. It’s obviously not teachers’ responsibilities that students cannot get high marks because teachers have already devoted themselves to their career.

　　Also, how much students learn cannot be truly evaluated. Is the school’s performance the only way to decide a student’s knowledge? We cannot simply give children a test to discover how much they have learned in a class. Tests rarely measure one’s social skills, one’s ability to communicate, or one’s ability to integrate successfully into the world. Thus, it is not a wise idea to think that teachers should be paid according to the amount of knowledge students learn.

　　To sum up, because of unfairness of teachers and not being able to measure how much students learn, the fact that teachers’ salaries are depend on the amount of knowledge students learn is not advisable.

　　Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

　　Almost all young people like wearing fancy clothes. It is human nature that we like dressing us well to attract people’s attention. Thus, some high schools’ requiring all students to wear school uniforms may annoy a lot of students. They may have a sense of being in jail. Like prisoner, wearing same clothes and doing same activities every day. However, as far as I see, the advantages of wearing school is considerably worthwhile than its disadvantages.

　　Violence in school draws more attention nowadays because it becomes more serious than before. There’s an investigation in the United States that the percentage of violence happened in campus declined significantly in some schools which require uniforms. Thus, we can draw a conclusion that wearing uniforms is possible a good method to cope with increase in violence, which is both good for the safety of schools and society.

　　Wearing uniforms does not only decrease bad behaviors in schools, but it makes students value their classmates in a wise way as well. Although we do not want concede our thoughts, it is true that a large number of people judge someone by their appearance. If a person dress well, he or she gives the impression of being well disposed and well spoken, which leads others to want to make friends with him or her. However, is that the right way to know a person? We are supposed to make friends according to their moral, loyalty and mentality. When students all wear uniforms, they have more chances to value classmates by what they are doing, what they are thinking, and what their ambitions are, so they may not just focus on appearance.

　　Finally, reducing families’ economic burden is one benefit caused by requiring students wear uniforms. The fact that there are still a lot of families with low incomes can not afford to buy many clothes should be considered. Requiring students to wear uniforms, schools make contribution to help those relatively poor families.

　　To conclude, wearing school uniforms is a well informed decision, which benefits society, students and their families. Although there might be a lot of opposition from students, they will gradually be aware of the benefits that uniforms bring to them.

　　Films can tell us a lot about the country where they were made. What have you learned about a country from watching its movies? Use specific examples and details to support your response.

　　Movies have already become one of the most important parts of our lives. People enjoy different kinds of movies, such as entertaining movies that make people laugh and forget all the trouble for a moment, and serious movies that have people think about lives. Also, people like watching movies made by different countries because they can learn various culture, history, and what other people’ thoughts are.

　　Movies provide us access to exotic cultures. We can always learn a lot about another country, such as decoration of the houses, daily food, and different behaviors. For example, it’s better for you to make as much noise as you can when you are eating noodles in a Japanese restaurant because from Japanese people’ opinions, you are showing your adoration of the noodles by doing so. I am always attracted by these sorts of interesting exotic customs because I can both widen my horizon and be aware of what I should do when I go to another country.

　　Movies can not only show us culture, but tell us history stories as well. For those who have background knowledge, they can have a better understanding of the movie; while for those who are equipped with little historical knowledge can start to know it from the movie they are watching. A large number of movies illustrate incidents happened in certain period of time, which make people think and learn. When I was watching the movie named “Rwanda Hotel”, I was deeply touched and impressed by the terrible massacre and kind-hearted people, which encourages me to be brave and tough no matter how big the trouble is.

　　Furthermore, getting to know about various ideologies is another crucial aspect of watching movies made by other countries. Movie is a perfect outlet to promote relationship between different nations, and we gradually know what other countries’ people’s thoughts simultaneously. By enjoying movies, I find that there is a huge difference between Canadians and people in my country. We consider filial piety one of the most important things in our life because parents gave us birth and nurtured us, so we have obligation to respect them and take care of them when they no longer can take of themselves well. Conversely, Canadians are more likely to have their parents enjoy lives by themselves; order people usually live far away from their offspring and do all kinds of things by themselves.

　　To sum up, watching movies made by other countries is an excellent way to learn about different culture, history and people’s thoughts.
