你们虽然很美丽，但是却很空虚。没有人愿意为你们而死。或许，一般的路人，会认为我的玫瑰花——那一朵属于我的玫瑰花和你们是一样的。但她这一朵却比你们千万朵还要重要：因为我曾经亲自为她浇水；把她放置在玻璃罩下；把她置于屏风后面保护它；为她铲除一些毛毛虫（只留两三只蜕变成蝴蝶）；我倾听她的抱怨、自吹自擂甚至信口开河，哪怕她默默无语——只因为她是我的玫瑰花。
